Het is simpelweg ongelofelijk. C’est tout simplement incroyable. Es ist einfach unglaublich. It’s simply unbelievable. After The Hague in 1910, Dordrecht in 2025 and New York last february, Carel de Nerée is now set to conquer London and Maastricht at the same time! At upcoming TEFAF, London based Emanuel von Baeyer (stand 605) will present a selection of exquisite and representative works from De Nerées (super rare) oeuvre, collected over a long period of time.

From the early, Edward Munch-like Illustration Maeterlinck (Bink & Veeze cat. 2025 no. 6), through the typical Neréeian The Fright (cat. no. 67), to the important self-portrait from 1904 (cat. 222) and the modernist masterpiece Portrait Idée Mme de S.[chestoff] (cat. 174). In addition, there are several interesting sketch sheets, a refined portrait of (presumably) Kappler and an important portrait from his later period (Lebemann. Cat. 122). To top it all off, there are some original photographs and a few other items.

And as if that weren’t enough, your favourite De Nerée expert (me) will be wandering around the fair on Friday afternoon at the opening, eagerly searching for complimentary champagne and oysters. We owe it to our reputation to at least try to act “decadent”. You can definitely find me at Von Baeyer on Saturday. At around 2 p.m., I will give a short presentation and answer any questions you may have.

And if you haven’t purchased the book yet for some mysterious reason, you can still do so on the spot! (It’s currently only available in Dutch, but who knows where all this cosmopolitanism will lead?) See you there!
